Jerez. Horse shows (private)
We would be happy to help, simply click and send a mail

Since ancient times, alongside Sherry and Flamenco, the horse has been one of the strongest symbols of Jerez. A period of great importance in this long tradition was in the 15th century when the Carthusian monks brought the world famous Carthusian horse to Jerez.

Without doubt, Jerez is the Spanish city where the horse is held in the highest esteem. There are numerous horse breeding farms, mare stables, visitor and equestrian centres which are involved in the raising and equine selection where the figure of the horse acquires the character of the indisputable protagonist of its most deep rooted expressions and traditional festivals.

Today there are a staggering number of equestrian events in which this noble creature can be seen. The Royal Andalusian School of Equestrian Art and the Yeguada La Cartuja; Hierro del Bocado, have weekly shows. There is also the annual Horse Fair and many equestrian events forming part of the Harvest Festival.

Do not miss the well-known "dancing stallions" show!

Doñana National Park. (60 Km from Seville)
UNESCO World Heritage Site.
We would be happy to help, simply click and send a mail

The Park it is unique in Europe, one of Europe’s most important reserve and contains one of the wider virgin coasts of Europe, with about 35km. In 1994 UNESCO designated the park a World Heritage Site, and also recognised the park as a Biosphere reserve. It is a wetland of international importance on the list of the Ramsar Convention.

Doñana has a known history of over 700 years. It was the favourite hunting reserve of Spanish kings such as Philip IV, Philip V and Alfonso XIII. It was owned by the Duchess of Alba and formed the backdrop of her portrait by Goya. The palace of Doñana remains as a testimony to this exalted past.

Doñana contains a great variety of ecosystems and shelters wildlife including thousands of European and African migratory birds, It is the intering site for more than 500,000 water fowl each year, and endangered species such as the Spanish Imperial Eagle and Iberian Lynx, marbled teal, and white-headed duck. Doñana is a place of passage and wintering site for over 150 bird species and crucial for the wintering of many aquatic birds such as geese (up to 60,000) and many as 300,000 ducks, its marismas flood in winter, create ideal conditions for migrating birds, you can see the the natural habitat of the fallow deer, Spanish red deer, wild boar, European badger, Egyptian mongoose, the booted eagle (Hieraaetus pennatus), short-toed eagle (Circaetus gallicus) and black kite (Milvus migrans)

Besides the waterfowl some 150 people live in the biosphere reserve, mainly engaged in agriculture and tourism.

The main goal of the biosphere reserve is to help integrating territorial conservation practices and ecotourism with sustainable use in order to improve life conditions of local populations.
The park covers 543 Sq KM stretching across 3 provinces of Huelva, Sevilla and Cádiz with six ecosystems Dunes, Beaches, Bank, Bushes and Marsh
The dunes in Doñana are extremely interesting both from an ecological and a cultural viewpoint, are formed by accumulations of sand whose front of progress has a steeper slope than the part of displacement called tail. This system of mobile dunes of Doñana, unique in Spain, is one of the most beautiful landscapes of the park. Southwestern winds cause the continuous transport of sands over the beaches of the National Park, moved afterwards to the inside forming the trains of mobile dunes.
Stone pines, cork oaks, mastics and other bush species constitute the forest of Doñana.

The marsh is the most seasonal and changing ecosystem in Doñana. In summer, it looks like an extensive shelf, dry, clayey and cracked, whereas in winter the rainwater turns the landscape into an endless lake, a winter shelter for innumerable anatidaes and other species.

The beaches of Doñana represent an intense dynamism and change their profile constantly due to the sea regressions through the centuries. Testimonies of this are the three watchtowers of the 16th century located along this coast, which at present give shelter to peregrine falcons.

There are trips into the park, in four-wheel drive vehicles with English speaking guides, If you would like to visit,  simply click and send a mail, we are happy to help.

The Romans and the Visigoths also left their marks in Cadiz.

After 711, Cadiz was ruled by the Muslims until Alfonso X reconquered it in the middle of the 13th century and it became part of the Kingdom of Castilla.

The 18th century came to fruition with the drafting of the constitution in 1812 in Cadiz.

All of them place with body and soul that stand in surroundings Seville. Excellent day out visiting them while enjoying outstanding gastronomy.

Rainer M. Rilker wrote about Ronda:
‘…the incomparable phenomenon of this city, set over the mass of two stones cut with a pick and separated by the narrow and deep gorge of the river, it could correspond to that other city, revealed in the dreams. The spectacle of this city is indescribable, and, around it, an ample valley with working fields, oaks and olive trees. And there in the distance, as if it had recovered all its strength, the pure mountain rises, range after range, until it forms the most splendid background.’

NO8DO - ‘It has not Abandoned me’

from aguilas 5 serviced apartments

You cannot fail to notice it while enjoy your sightseeing tour across the city; NO8DO is omnipresent, even engraved on Christopher Columbus's tomb that is held aloft by four giant statues in the Cathedral.
King Alfonso X rewarded the fidelity of the ‘Sevillanos’ with the words that now appear on the official emblem of the city of Seville. Seville did not abandon the King so it shall be honoured forever with NO8DO ‘It has not abandoned me’.
The motto is in fact a rebus, a play on words, made from combining the Spanish syllables (NO and DO) and a drawing in between–the figure ‘8’.

The figure represents in Spanish a skein of yarn, ‘madeja’. When read aloud, sounds like ‘No me ha dejado,’ which means ‘It (Seville) has not abandoned me (the King)’
